tiipaalga

tiipaalga is an association in Burkina Faso that works closely with rural farming families, particularly women, to improve livelihoods while restoring and protecting the environment. Through practical training, equipment, microcredit and long-term support, tiipaalga helps communities develop sustainable solutions adapted to their local needs.

Our main activities and achievements include:
Restoring forests and degraded land: Protecting family forests, promoting natural regeneration (FMNR), preserving native trees and biodiversity, and restoring degraded landscapes.

Promoting sustainable agriculture and food security: Training farmers in agroecological practices such as composting, biochar production, soil and water conservation, agroforestry and organic vegetable gardening.

Reducing firewood consumption and protecting the climate: Training women to build and maintain locally produced improved cookstoves that reduce wood consumption by around 60%, while also reducing smoke and saving time.

Empowering women economically: Supporting women through interest-free microcredit, practical training and income-generating activities, including shea butter production, food processing, soap making and small-scale businesses.

Creating sustainable livelihoods: Developing beekeeping, honey production, fodder production, tree nurseries and other activities that generate income while preserving natural resources.

Sharing knowledge and strengthening communities: Training local women as community trainers, supporting farmer groups and providing environmental education for children and young people.

Our impact:
tiipaalga has contributed to the restoration of more than 40,000 hectares of land and supported the construction of over 500,000 improved cookstoves, benefiting hundreds of thousands of rural families. Its integrated approach strengthens food security, women's economic independence, biodiversity and climate resilience.
