The Timbaktu Collective

The Timbaktu Collective is a registered Not-for-Profit working for sustainable development in drought prone Sri Sathya Sai district of Andhra Pradesh, INDIA. It works with marginalised small holder farmers & landless labour families, in 347 villages, partnering 45,000 families. With local self-governance as the underlying theme, it promotes organic agriculture, ecological restoration of Savanah Grasslands, community-based institutions, alternative banking, rural entrepreneurship, and the rights of women, children, and persons with disabilities while promoting sustainable member owned Cooperatives. The Collective received the 2014 OWA Gold Award.
